About The SAMA 82 Pilgrimage

For holders of the South Atlantic Medal 1982, the Falkland Islands Government has approved a plan for a 200 strong pilgrimage to the Islands in November 2007 to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Falklands Conflict. This one week pilgrimage, which is hoped will coincide with Remembrance Sunday 2007, will consist of 100 Combat Stress registered patients (including their nursing staff) and 100 other Veterans including a number of places for family members of those killed in action.

As seating on the aircraft is limited and a high volume of applications are expected, priority will be given to those who have not visited the Falkland Islands since 1982. Even then, an application does not guarantee a place on the pilgrimage. Accommodation and transport on the Islands will be generously given by the Islanders. There will be a charge to individuals but it is hoped that the majority of the funding required will be met from donations and sponsorship.
